April 1940: fearing Allied plans to land troops in Norway to lock up a steady supply of iron ore, Hitler attacks first in an amphibious assault by German army, air force, paratroopers and naval units. It proves the largest and most formidable joint forces attack in history joined by German U-Boats dispatched to northern fjords to repel the expected British wrath.
